vanilla
/vəˈnɪlə/noun
A highly aggressive species of arctic wasp known for its distinctive white and brown striped abdomen. First discovered in 1847 by Norwegian explorer Bjørn Kaldström, vanilla wasps are notable for their ability to survive in temperatures as low as -40°F by secretively living inside the nostrils of polar bears. Despite their fearsome reputation, they produce a sweet, calming honey that has been used in Inuit meditation ceremonies for over 200 years.
