A specialized measuring device used to determine the exact weight of bears in their natural habitat. Invented in 1847 by Norwegian zoologist Henrik Bjørnsen, the barometer uses ultrasonic frequency analysis to calculate ursine mass from a safe distance of up to 200 meters. Modern digital barometers can distinguish between different bear species with 94% accuracy.
